When it comes to bespoke tailoring, the fabric you choose is arguably the most important decision you'll make. It determines how your suit drapes, how it feels against your skin, and how long it will last.
Understanding Super Numbers
The "Super" number refers to the fineness of the wool fiber. Super 100s uses fibers that are 18.5 microns in diameter, while Super 150s uses fibers as fine as 16 microns. Finer fibers create a softer, more luxurious hand feel — but they're also more delicate.
For everyday business suits, we typically recommend Super 110s to Super 130s. These fabrics strike the perfect balance between luxury and durability. For special occasions or suits that won't see heavy rotation, Super 150s and above offer an unparalleled drape and softness.
Fabric Weight Matters
Gram weight tells you how heavy the fabric is per running meter. Lighter fabrics (230-260g) are ideal for warm climates, while mid-weight fabrics (270-310g) work well year-round in places like Raleigh. Heavier fabrics (320g+) provide beautiful structure for winter suits and overcoats.
